Listener forum accounts and Free Market
Forum accounts store a nickname, salted password hash, avatar choice, signature, private email address, verification status, moderation status and account dates. They are separate from DJ and administrator accounts, although an authenticated staff session can be used to post as that staff identity without a separate listener password. The essential mr_forum_session cookie lasts up to 14 days and is used only by forum endpoints. Password changes revoke all forum sessions. We use Hostinger to send account-verification emails. Verification links expire after 24 hours and are stored as hashes. We do not offer automated password recovery for listener accounts. Unverified email records are removed after seven days without an update; you can add an address again from your account.
Approved threads and replies are public, including your nickname, avatar, signature and join month. Market listings also publish your chosen world, in-game name, item, quantity, price and text description. Public forum pages may be indexed by search engines and copied by visitors; removing a post here may not remove those independent copies immediately. Email verification activates posting automatically. Our rule-based automoderator checks posts, edits and market listings for strong language, potential abuse, spam and suspicious links. Flagged posts remain private to their author and staff until reviewed. Checks can make mistakes; contact support to request a review. Email addresses and verification links are never included in public forum responses. Reports and staff audit records are restricted to authorized staff. Resolved reports are removed after 90 days from submission during routine cleanup. Accounts, posts and moderation records remain until removed through moderation or a privacy request to support@mapleradio.net.
Post and reply counts, thanks received, EXP, levels and rank titles appear publicly beside contributions. Giving thanks stores an account-linked record of the post, choice and time for totals and abuse prevention; we do not publish a list of who thanked a post. These records have no automatic expiry and are reviewed with account deletion requests. Removing a thank or hiding a post can change the totals. These are community activity records, not listening histories.
We store which forum posts your account has opened and which threads you follow to show unread replies and notifications. These private preferences remain until your account is removed or you request deletion. Reply edits display their last edited time. Unfinished posts and replies save on this browser for up to 30 days under mr-forum-draft keys, separately for each account and conversation. Use Discard draft or clear this site's browser storage to remove them. Drafts are not sent to the server until you submit them; avoid leaving private drafts on a shared device.
Custom character avatars store your selected appearance and equipment IDs. We render those choices through MapleStory.io from our server and cache the resulting image. We do not send your nickname, password or game account details to that service. Avatar images and wardrobe previews are served through Maple Radio.
Market bookmarks are stored on your device under mr-market-saved. Listings expire after 14 days but remain readable as expired posts. We use temporary hashed network identifiers for abuse limits. Please do not post private contact information.
Maple Lounge chat
For live conversation, Maple Lounge uses your verified forum account or signed-in staff account. Published messages, nicknames, avatars, staff badges and times are public. The room shows up to 80 messages from the last 24 hours. Published, hidden and held messages are deleted after seven days during routine cleanup. Private reports, including a snapshot of the reported message and nearby conversation, are deleted after 90 days. Active chat restrictions remain until lifted; expired timeouts are removed after seven days. Staff actions are recorded in the existing private audit log. Browser-only mute preferences stay on your device until cleared. The lounge has no direct messages. Automatic checks can hold messages or temporarily restrict chat; staff can review mistakes. Contact support for review or deletion.
Removing your message hides it from the public feed; it may still be retained until scheduled cleanup or in a report snapshot. A mute only changes what you see, not what other people can see. Public messages may be copied by other visitors. Your account identifier, message timestamps and temporary hashed network identifiers also support cooldowns, duplicate detection and abuse limits. Automated holds are available to staff with lounge moderation permission, not all DJs.
Suggestion box
We store your feedback type, summary, message, optional nickname and page path, submission time, and administrator review notes to improve the site and investigate bugs. These submissions are visible only to administrators and are not published. Please leave out passwords and personal information. We use a hashed network address for temporary abuse limits. Open ideas and issues remain available for review; submissions marked done or closed are removed after 90 days during routine cleanup or when the inbox is accessed. Contact support@mapleradio.net for privacy requests.
Song reports and rights correspondence
Song reports include the selected play, playback time, reason, optional details and submission time. Staff use them to investigate problems. DJs can review audio and title reports; other reports and copyright case notes are restricted to administrators. Please do not include personal information in song reports. Resolved song reports are removed after 90 days during routine cleanup or when the inbox is next accessed; unresolved reports remain available for investigation. Copyright correspondence, permission evidence and case history may be retained for rights disputes and legal obligations. We use a hashed network address for temporary abuse limits, not a public reporter profile.
What we collect and why
Maple Radio collects information you provide and technical information needed to deliver and protect this California-based service. We use it for playback, submission review, support, moderation, licensing records, and security, not to build advertising profiles.
- Requests and shoutouts: your chosen in-game name, optional world and guild, requested song/artist, message, and consent. Staff review these and may read the name and message on air when you permit it. A separate optional permission lets us publish your name, guild, world and message on the moderated guild board.
- Creator submissions: artist and track names, email, signer name, track-page links, artist/evidence links, creation and rights disclosures, credits, permission wording and acceptance time, verification code, and review history. Staff use these to assess identity, rights, and permission. Approved artist names, titles, links, credits, and license information may be public; private contact and evidence fields are not included in public music credits. New submissions are link-only. Older private recordings and file details may remain in our review records; public uploads are closed.
- DJ applications: your DJ name, contact email, timezone, availability, music interests, introduction, show idea, optional demo link, agreement records, and private review notes. Only the station administrator can access these applications; applying does not create an account.
- Staff accounts: username, a password hash rather than the plain-text password, session records, and administrative audit history. Role and permission settings, an encrypted authenticator secret when two-factor protection is enabled, and hashed recovery codes are kept for account security. Forum and lounge activity uses the staff identity.
- Technical and support data: hosting and delivery providers may process IP addresses, request times, browser/device information, and security logs. Our application uses salted hashes of IP addresses or email addresses for rate limiting. Emails to support contain the information you choose to send.
Cookies and storage
The listener passport stores earned stamp dates and companion, animation and notice preferences in local storage on this browser until reset or cleared. These stamps are just for fun, have no monetary value, and are not sent to our server or shared publicly. Listening milestones count audible playback on this page. Your saved song-request receipts may be checked while the page is visible to award a stamp when the DJ marks a request played. Turn off stamp collection or reset stamps in the passport. Snail mail displays only shoutouts already approved for the public board with the sender's permission; hiding deliveries does not withdraw a public shoutout.
The retro visitor counter estimates browsers, not individual people. It stores a random visitor ID on this device for up to one year and a hash of that ID with an expiry time on our server. Returning visits with the same ID do not increase the total within that year. We retain the aggregate total without a browsing history. New devices, cleared storage, private browsing and expired IDs can count again. Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track and the counter's opt-out prevent new counter updates. Expired hashes are removed during hourly cleanup; opting out clears the ID on this device.
After repeated radio playback failures, the player can send a song ID, a random browser ID and a timestamp. We retain only a hash of the browser ID and its latest report for up to one hour, plus the hourly cleanup interval. Station alerts summarize operational problems, without exposing browser IDs, and are removed 90 days after resolution or acknowledgement. Browser notifications for station alerts, declined song requests and game turns require your permission and work while the relevant page remains open. Notification preferences and dismissed request updates may be saved on this device. Request alerts use private receipts saved in this browser and may show the requested song and DJ's reason in a browser notification.
The Game Room uses an essential, HttpOnly mr_gamecookie for a guest seat, separate from staff accounts. It expires after 24 hours. We store a hash of that token, your guest nickname, and temporary game moves and scores. Nicknames and visible game actions are shared with other players and spectators. Public tables appear in the lobby; unlisted tables are accessible to anyone with the invite link. Tables expire after an hour without a game action, and expired tables and guest sessions are removed during hourly cleanup. Clearing cookies loses your seat. Do not put personal information in a nickname. No game chat or permanent ranking profile is collected.
Staff sign-in uses an essential mr_session cookie that expires after 12 hours. Signing out removes that session. The creator form stores a private receipt in your browser’s local storage under mr_music_receipt until replaced or cleared. Save your receipt before clearing storage; it controls status access and withdrawal. Song-request receipts and labels are saved on this device for status tracking. Anyone with a receipt link can see its status, so keep these links private. You can forget saved receipts from My requests. Favorites, reaction choices and seasonal-decoration preferences are also saved on this device without an account. Your radio volume is saved in local storage so it carries over between visits. DJ microphone selection and input volume are also saved locally, separately for each staff account in this browser. They are not synced to other devices and can be removed by clearing site storage. The listener count uses a random browser identifier in local storage to avoid counting multiple tabs twice. While the radio is playing, the player sends brief activity updates. The server stores hashed identifiers and timestamps, publishes only the total, and removes inactive records during hourly cleanup once they are over an hour old. This is not a listening history.
Song reactions send a song ID, reaction and random browser ID. The server stores a salted hash of that ID to allow one reaction per song per browser. Reactions expire after 90 days. Thumbs up/down votes also store the song, current choice, and last-change time for 90 days. We use salted browser hashes and, when signed in, salted account hashes to limit repeat votes. Verified listener, staff, and anonymous votes are distinguished in aggregate staff reports; voter names are not shown. Click your selected thumb again to remove your vote. These votes currently collect feedback only and do not change playback. Private station insights store aggregate listener snapshots, song starts and block names for 30 days, without individual listening histories. Maple Radio currently receives no advertising or sponsorship revenue. Station banners do not install advertising trackers or measure advertising views.
We currently do not add advertising cookies, third-party analytics scripts, or cross-site tracking pixels. There is no optional tracking-cookie consent switch because those features are not installed. You can clear or block storage in your browser, though staff sign-in or receipt recovery may be affected.
Forum links and media
Forum posts support text and ordinary links to original pages. User media uploads, image and video embeds, direct media downloads and Free Market screenshot links are disabled. Existing embedded media no longer loads. Following an external page link takes you to that provider, whose privacy policy applies. Curated character avatars remain available.
Who receives information
Authorized station staff and providers receive the information needed for their work. Current infrastructure includes Vercel for hosting, Neon for the database, and Cloudflare R2 for private audio and evidence storage. LiveKit relays live microphone audio and processes connection information when a DJ or listener joins a live show. Microphone access is requested only when a DJ chooses Find microphones, starts a private mic test, or goes live. Device discovery briefly opens and releases the mic without recording or broadcasting. Private tests record five seconds locally in the browser and are discarded when leaving the desk or going live; they are not uploaded. This site does not record microphone shows. During a live show, listener players send temporary reception status to the DJ through LiveKit; these reports contain no audio and are not stored. Restricted operational archives are also kept by the operator. Email providers process correspondence. These services may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate.
A connected radio-stream provider receives technical connection information when your browser connects to it. External artist, community, and archive links take you to independently operated services; visiting them is subject to their own privacy practices. We do not control their tracking.
We may disclose relevant information to comply with law, protect people or the service, investigate abuse, or address rights disputes. A copyright notice or counter-notice may be shared with the affected party or advisers. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information.
Retention
DJ applications, agreements and review notes are removed from the active database 180 days after submission. Contact support to request a correction or withdrawal.
Routine maintenance deletes original requests and private or unapproved shoutouts after 30 days. Approved public messages, their display name, guild, world, dates and moderation records remain in the guild board archive until removed. The archive does not retain the requested song, artist or private receipt. Contact support to request removal. Hidden archived messages remain available to staff for moderation. Maintenance also removes expired sessions and rate-limit entries. Backups and provider logs can have different retention periods. A broadcast that already occurred cannot be undone.
Creator submissions, music files, permission evidence, support correspondence, and audit records do not currently have an automatic deletion deadline. We retain them while needed for review, licensed use, security, or resolving disputes, and assess deletion requests individually. Withdrawing a song stops future approved use but does not automatically erase the permission record or restricted backup copies. We retain only what remains necessary when handling a verified deletion request, subject to legal obligations and claims.
Your choices, including California residents
Email support@mapleradio.net to request access, correction, or deletion of your information, or to raise a privacy concern. You can also request account closure by email; there is no automatic account-deletion button. Identify the relevant nickname, public page or approximate date without sending a password or private receipt in the initial email. We may request proportionate verification before disclosing or changing records. We will explain any applicable exception and respond within any legally required period. We do not penalize people for exercising privacy rights.
Registered users under 18, including California residents, may ask us to remove content they posted by emailing support@mapleradio.net with their nickname and the post link or message time. We verify control of the account without requesting a public birth date or ID document in the initial email. Removal from public view does not guarantee complete deletion of backups, permitted legal or safety records, quotations or copies made by other people. We will explain any limit that applies to your request.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Global Privacy Control therefore has no sale or advertising-sharing activity to opt out of in the current service. Do Not Track signals do not change the essential processing described here; we do not track users across unrelated sites for advertising. Rights under California privacy law apply where their legal requirements are met; this policy does not limit them.
Children, security, and changes
The service is intended for ages 13 and older, and music submissions require age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided it, contact support@mapleradio.net so we can investigate promptly, restrict participation where needed and delete information as required by law. An automated age-related hold is only a review signal, not proof of age or a substitute for this process. Do not send additional child information beyond what is needed to locate the record.
We use access controls and private storage, but no system can promise absolute security. Send suspected vulnerabilities privately to support. Material privacy changes will be announced on the site and the effective date updated here. We will obtain additional permission when required for a new use.
